Officers

The Agronomy Club elects a new set of officers every December to serve for the following calendar year. Any dues paying member is eligible to run for one of the eight officer positions. Read the short bios below to learn more about the 2015 officer team.

President

Sam McDonald is a junior in Plant Science with an emphasis in Breeding, Biology and Biotechnology. Sam joined the Agronomy Club because he wanted to meet other students that were interested in plant science and agronomy, both at Mizzou and other schools. He decided to run for an office in order to have a more active role in the club and in the Department of Plant Sciences. Sam has enjoyed being able to work on projects with his peers that improve the club and help the community. His favorite part about being in the Agronomy Club is attending SASES events and meeting students from other universities.

Gatlin is a senior studying Plant Science with an emphasis in Crop Management. He joined the Agronomy Club because he wanted to learn more about agronomy and network with other students and professionals in the agronomic field. Gatlin wanted to be an officer so that he could could give back to the club and bring networking opportunities to the younger members. He enjoys being able to interact with the public, especially with those who are not involved in agriculture, and teaching others about the importance of agronomy and agriculture.

Blaine is a junior Plant Science major with an emphasis in Crop Management. He joined the Agronomy Club to make friends with students who have similar interests and classes. He also wanted to be able to form connections for the future and network with potential employers. Blaine ran for office so that he could help ensure that the club continues to flourish. His favorite part of being an Agronomy Club member is being able to gain friends to study with and hearing about the different projects and ideas other students come up with (especially Josh and Gatlin).

Malynda O’Day is a freshman Plant Science major with an emphasis in Crop Management. She joined the Agronomy Club to gain experiences that will help her in her future career as an agronomist. Malynda ran for office with the hopes of helping the club reach its full potential within Mizzou and the SASES organization. As an Agronomy Club member, she has been able to become great friends with other student who share the same interests as her own.

Lindsey is a sophomore studying Plant Science with an emphasis in Crop Management. She joined the Agronomy Club in order to gain more knowledge and experience in regards to crops and agronomy. Lindsey also wanted to network with other students who share her passion for agronomy. She decided to become an officer so that she could help better the club through activities and experiences. Lindsey loves being part of “the agronomy family”.

Raechel Douglas is a junior Plant Science major with an emphasis in Crop Management. She joined the club in order to gain agronomy related experiences to supplement her studies. She also enjoys spending time with the other Plant Science students. Raechel ran for office to become more involved in the club by organizing events for other members. She enjoys attending SASES meetings and traveling to numerous  contests and events.

Josh is a junior studying Plant Science with an emphasis in Crop Management. He joined the Agronomy Club to learn more about the industry and meet other students with similar interests. Josh wanted to become an officer so that he could help improve the club and get younger members excited about agronomy. His favorite part of being an Agronomy Club member is making friends through conferences and events with students who share in his love for agriculture.

Amanda Talbot is a freshman in Plant Science with an emphasis in Crop Management. She enjoyed learning about agronomy during her high school career, so she joined to Agronomy Club to further her knowledge in the subject. Amanda also joined because she wanted to meet other students with similar interests. Amanda joined the officer team so that she could gain communication skills and bring new ideas into the club. She enjoys being able to listen to and network with different guest speakers that represent various careers in the industry.
